Over the past 3-4 years, EditDNS has grown to be a fairly good sized operation. We get around 150 new domains a day and over 60 new accounts a day.
One of the biggest complaints we have heard over the past few years is how long it took to add new domains, records, etc.
We hate to hear people are not happy with our service and we tried over and over to bandaid it and everytime we would, things would break further.
After several weeks of 15 hour days, we re-coded the entire EditDNS backend to support us for a very long time. Our new backend should support us up to 2 million
domain names.
We finally released our new backend today and now all EditDNS subscribers can take advantage of it.As of today:
- All new domains added to the EditDNS system are instantly on the new backend.
- All existing domains will have a link to migrate your domain to the new backend.It is automatic and the only thing you will need to do is change your nameservers to
another set of EditDNS nameservers.
Do you need to migrate your domain?Not at all. We currently have over 40,000 domains on our old backend and therefore it will still be around
for many months, if not years. However, we encourage you to migrate as things will be much smoother.
We have also made some other internal changes such as hardware upgrades, etc. If you recently left EditDNS due to slow times, we invite you to come
check out our new network, we feel you will be greatly impressed.
Now that our major rewrite has been completed, we are looking into adding more features into the EditDNS network. We invite you to log onto our forums at
http://forums.nerdie.net and post some suggestions.
Lastly, we couldn't have done this without several weeks of beta testing from some of our forum members. The forum is such a valuable place because of
the people who spend their own time helping not only us, but our user base.If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be so successful.
